"Painting and writing enable me to express the joy I feel when observing the wonderful creations of both nature and man."    Marcy Chapman

I have experienced a delightful journey via both paintbrush and pen as a professional artist, published writer and teacher for my entire life.

After gaining a measure of accomplishment on the piano, a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Speech, teaching creative writing in the public schools, and working in the editorial/publishing world, I discovered watercolor. For a long period, it was my sole pursuit.

The ensuing years have provided a plethora of additional creative outlets for me to pursue. Along with painting and exhibiting my artwork, I have taught, written, opened art galleries in two states, travelled and, most importantly, mothered.

I have enjoyed years of study and practice in the Japanese arts of Sumi-e (black ink painting), Haiku (poetry), and Ikebana (Japanese flower arranging). Most recently it has just seemed appropriate to create a format where I could share these artistic pleasures with others. In my workshops and with local art associations I can do this.

Currently, as I continue to live creatively and study the arts, I paint and write in my studio in Sarasota, FL, in the company of Clint, my husband, a rescue dog named "Sumi," and nearby children and grandchildren.
