Welcome to my studio!

Marcy Chapman is giving watercolor painting a new look!

Exposing all the vivid color, transparency, expression of light and beauty WITHOUT the visual barrier of GLASS.

Watercolor paintings are mounted on canvas and archively sealed to provide full protection -- giving them the advantageous visual impact enjoyed by oils and acrylics.  Frequently the watercolor continues its life and content with acrylic paint borders or a realistic subject is superimposed over geometric shapes enhancing the drama of the composition.

Mix-and-Match Media Workshop by Marcy Chapman
John C. Campbell Folk School
Brasstown, North Carolina
August 29 to September 4, 2010
You're invited to enjoy autumn in the beautiful mountains of North Carolina while you get creative in a delightfully fun and informative week-long painting session.  Intermediate to advanced painters will design and paint with watercolor on paper.  Then the excitement really begins!  The painting will be bonded onto a stretched, primed canvas and the design extended and completed in acrylic paint.  The finished piece will be sealed, no glass needed.  Subject matter may be traditional, contemporary, or feature the dramatic effect of a realistic subject superimposed over geometric shapes.
Basic painting skills required.       No pressure - just paint!
